ə-pŏl'ə-jĕt'ĭks

a defensive method of argument
Apologia, related of course, is a formal written defense of something you believe in strongly.

There is a special branch of apologetics called Christian apologetics, dedicated to a defense of the Christian faith.

Which is why it was the perfect term to use in describing Mitch Berg’s overheated musings in defense of the thoughtful Christian, Tom Emmer.

But Mitch’s irony warning buzzer has been permanently disabled, so it went right over his head.

Just thought I’d clear that up.

Update: Here’s the post at Shot in the Dark that I’m referring to.
