The geology of Katie.

Spot read Katie’s hysterical, spittle-flecked screeching today about Education Minnesota and its new website. Rather than responding right away, Spotty decided to just sit back a while and let the free association begin. Know what he came up with? Soda Butte. If you have been to Soda Butte you will recognize instantly where this post is going.

For those of you, as Arlo Guthrie might say, Soda Butte is a geyser, most say an extinct one, in Yellowstone Park near the entrance to the Park at Cooke City. It looks like a toy volcano. Soda Butte is pictured above. The “soda” is caustic soda; Soda Butte is a cone of festering sulphurous rock. It stings the eyes, and burns the nostrils, paws, hooves, or feet of anyone who walks around it. And it looks like it might explode; indeed with the Butte’s pungent breath, one almost expects it to.

If you have been paying attention, boys and girls, Spotty doesn’t have to connect the spots for you.

There is really nothing useful to say about Katie’s bashing of public school teachers and Education Minnesota. It is simply the venting of gas from a geological formation that must be expected from time to time.
